St. Paul, MN - Laura Linder-Scholer, the Campus Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Coordinator at the Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE), will be a guest speaker at this year’s SOS Annual Walk, an event to honor survivors of sexual violence.
“The Office of Higher Education has a clear message for student survivors of sexual violence: we see you, we hear you, and we stand with you. We are committed to supporting survivors, as well as our wider communities, by connecting and improving campus sexual violence prevention and response efforts across the state,” said Linder-Scholer.
In her position at OHE, Linder-Scholer provides support to Minnesota college campuses around sexual violence prevention and Title IX issues. She also works to shape and promote public policies that support students and survivors.
What: SOS Annual Walk to honor survivors of sexual violence
When: Sunday, April 28, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Hamline University, Anderson Center, 774 Snelling Avenue N.
In 2015, legislation was signed into law requiring college campuses to provide sexual assault training to students and staff, as well as enhance cooperation efforts between institutions and local law enforcement. Linder-Scholer is tasked with supporting colleges in these efforts, especially at smaller institutions that may lack the resources necessary to fulfill these requirements.
“The issue of sexual violence impacts every college and university campus across our state. The Office of Higher Education works to honor survivors of sexual violence by investing in primary prevention efforts, promoting trauma-informed campus responses, and supporting public policies that advocate for student survivors’ rights and needs,” said Linder-Scholer.
Linder-Scholer can be reach at Laura.linder-scholer@state.mn.us or by phone at 651-259-3975.
